Let’s Get Real about Making Money Online

September 27th, 2007 · No Comments

If you want to make money online, you better be clear up front what it will take.

I’m convinced that there are ways to make money quickly on the internet.  However, I’d wager there are special circumstances for those that can pull that off.  These individuals  generally have special knowledge (coding, graphic design, ad writing, server admin, etc.), superior mentorship, unethical practices, dumb luck or some combination.

For the rest of us, it takes work and commitment.  Not to toot my own horn, but I’m currently spending 3 to 4 hours a day learning, posting here, and generally working on my business.  Some of you might think that’s pretty tame, but let me clarify a bit.

I have a full time job in corporate finance which is always more than 40 hours a week and highly stressful.  Then I come home and spend the evening with my wife, step-children, dogs and cat.  Some of you might sacrifice family/personal time in the short run to start your business, but I chose not to do that.  After my wife goes to bed, I spend my time working.

You will adjust this based on your personal circumstance.  Remember, more time spent on your business means internet profits sooner.  It’s really pretty simple.

To summarize:

  • be realistic about what it takes to make money online
  • be committed to your business
  • keep some semblance of balance
  • spend time doing something everyday

Keep it real, and keep moving toward your goal of internet profits.

Stay tuned.
